Private Mediation Services in Louisiana
I am a Certified Civil Mediator (February 16, 2024) and a Certified Family Mediator (April 2, 2024), offering private mediation services throughout Louisiana. Mediation provides a structured, neutral space for individuals, families, and businesses to resolve disputes without the stress, expense, and uncertainty of litigation.
In Louisiana, court-appointed mediation requires an attorney. However, outside of the court system, certified mediators may offer private mediation services. My mediation services are provided independently of the courts and are designed for parties who want to work toward resolution voluntarily and respectfully.
What Mediation Is - and What It Is Not
Mediation is a voluntary, confidential process where a neutral third party helps participants communicate, identify issues, and explore mutually acceptable solutions.
Mediation is:
Collaborative
Confidential
Neutral
Solution-focused
Mediation is not:
Legal advice
Legal representation
Court-ordered
A substitute for an attorney
I do not make decisions for the parties, and I do not take sides. My role is to facilitate productive discussion and help parties reach their own agreements.
Areas of Mediation Offered
I provide mediation services in a wide range of matters, including but not limited to:
Civil Mediation
Business and small business disputes
Contract and payment disputes
Community and organizational disputes
Neighbor and property-related conflicts
General civil disagreements
Family Mediation
Family and interpersonal disputes
Co-parenting and communication issues
Divorce-related mediation (outside of court)
Elder and caregiving-related family conflicts
If a matter is outside the scope of mediation or would be better handled by an attorney or the court system, I will let you know upfront.
Mediation Format and Availability
I offer flexible mediation options to meet the needs of the parties involved:
In-person mediation
Virtual mediation
Mobile mediation (travel available)
Hybrid formats when appropriate
Sessions are typically scheduled in advance and may vary in length depending on the complexity of the matter. An initial intake or consultation is required before mediation begins.
Important Boundaries and Disclosures
To ensure clarity and compliance with Louisiana standards:
I am not an attorney
I do not provide legal advice
I do not represent either party
Mediation is voluntary
Mediation is not court-ordered
Any agreements reached are not legal judgments
Parties are encouraged to consult with independent legal counsel if desired
Important Disclosures
Mediation is an informal, confidential process intended to help parties communicate and work toward resolution. Participation in mediation does not create an attorney-client relationship, and I do not provide legal advice or legal representation.
I serve as a neutral facilitator only. I do not take sides, make decisions, or determine outcomes. Any agreements reached during mediation are voluntary and are not legal judgments or court orders. Parties may consult with an attorney of their choosing at any time before, during, or after mediation.
If mediation is not appropriate for a particular matter, I will advise the parties upfront.
Why Choose Mediation
Many clients choose mediation because it:
Saves time and money
Reduces conflict and stress
Encourages cooperation and communication
Allows parties to maintain control over outcomes
Promotes practical, workable solutions
Mediation can be especially helpful when parties want resolution without escalating matters into formal legal proceedings.
